The operator of this website takes the protection of your personal data seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in line with statutory data protection rules and this privacy policy. Personal data means any data that can identify you personally. This policy describes what data is processed when you visit this website, for what purpose, and on what legal basis. Please note that data transmission on the internet, for example by email, can have security gaps. Complete protection against access by third parties is not possible.

2. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., USA. When you access our pages, Vercel automatically processes data your browser transmits, which is technically necessary to display the website and to ensure its stability and security (server log files):

• IP address
• Date and time of the request
• Content of the request, meaning the specific page
• Access status / HTTP status code
• Amount of data transferred
• Website from which the request comes (referrer)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in providing the website reliably and securely. Vercel processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Where data is transferred to the USA, the transfer is based on the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

3. Contact by email

The contact form on this website does not transmit any data to our servers or to third parties: it merely composes a prepared email in your own email application, which you then send yourself. If you contact us by email at kontakt@builderz.org, for example to arrange a first call, we process your email address and the information in your message in order to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to the initiation or performance of a contract, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries. We delete this data once storage is no longer required, or restrict processing where statutory retention obligations apply.

4. Cookies

This website does not set any cookies itself and does not use tracking technologies that require consent. Our audience measurement also works without cookies (see section 5). Only if you actively start an embedded video on a case study page may the video provider Vimeo set cookies or use comparable technologies (see section 8).

5. Web analytics with Plausible

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly web analytics service provided by Plausible Insights OÜ, Tartu, Estonia. Plausible does not use cookies and does not create cross-site user profiles. The data is processed on servers within the European Union and stored only in aggregated form (for example page views, referrers, device type, country). Your IP address is not stored; it is processed only transiently to detect repeat visits. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in privacy-friendly audience measurement without user tracking. More information: plausible.io/data-policy.

6. Web fonts (Fontshare)

For consistent typography, this website uses the Fontshare web font service provided by the Indian Type Foundry (ITF). When you open a page, your browser loads the required stylesheets and font files directly from the provider's servers (api.fontshare.com and cdn.fontshare.com). In doing so, your IP address is transmitted to these servers; the provider thereby learns that our website was accessed from your IP address. Processing on servers outside the EU cannot be ruled out. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a consistent and performant presentation of the website.

7. Newsletter, checks and guides (Kit, formerly ConvertKit)

To send our newsletter, to deliver your result from our visibility quiz and from our checks, and to deliver our guides, we use Kit (formerly ConvertKit), a service based in Boise, Idaho, USA.

If you sign up for the newsletter via the form in the footer, we transmit your email address to Kit. The subscription only takes effect once you confirm the email sent to you (double opt-in). If you request your result in the quiz, we additionally transmit your first name as well as your quiz result and score; for this we obtain your explicit consent via a checkbox.

For our guides, you request the respective document as a PDF to your address. In doing so, we transmit your email address, your first name (where you provide it) and the identifier of the requested document to Kit.

For our checks, your result appears immediately on screen and you save it there as a PDF yourself. We do not send the result itself. What is transmitted is your email address, your first name (where you provide it), and the identifier of the check, that is, which check you signed up through. We transmit neither your score nor your determined result nor your individual answers. The purpose is to send you our email guide "Seven days of LinkedIn fundamentals" (seven messages on seven consecutive days) and occasional notes on the subject afterwards.

In both cases we obtain your explicit consent via a checkbox, and in both cases sending only takes effect once you confirm the email sent to you (double opt-in).

In all cases, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with future effect, for example via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to kontakt@builderz.org. Kit processes your data in the USA; the transfer is based on the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

8. Video embedding (Vimeo)

On individual case study pages we embed video testimonials via Vimeo (Vimeo.com, Inc., New York, USA). The embed uses a two-click solution: when the page loads, no connection to Vimeo is established, and you initially see only a preview image hosted by us. Only when you actively start the video does your browser load the Vimeo player, at which point data (including your IP address) is transmitted to Vimeo; Vimeo may then also set cookies or use comparable technologies. We embed the player with Vimeo's "Do Not Track" parameter (dnt=1), which limits Vimeo's tracking of playback behavior. The legal basis is your consent, given by actively starting the video (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Where data is transferred to the USA, the transfer is based on the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information: vimeo.com/privacy.

9. Storage period

We process and store your personal data primarily for the period required for the relevant purpose. This may include periods for contract initiation and contract performance.

On this basis, personal data is usually deleted as part of fulfilling our contractual and/or statutory obligations unless temporary further processing is necessary for the following purposes:

• Compliance with statutory retention obligations, for example under the German Commercial Code (Section 257(4) HGB) and the German Fiscal Code (Section 147(3), (4) AO). The periods set out in those rules can be up to ten years.
• Preservation of evidence within limitation periods. Under Sections 194 et seq. BGB, these periods can be up to 30 years, with the regular limitation period being three years.

If you make a legitimate deletion request or withdraw your consent to data processing, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible reasons to store your personal data.

10. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)

Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with future effect (Art. 7(3) GDPR). The lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal remains unaffected. To exercise your rights, an email to kontakt@builderz.org is sufficient.

11. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority responsible for us is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, www.lda.bayern.de.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy with future effect. The current version is always available on this page.
